Officers and ratings from Culdrose went on parade on Thursday as the 200th anniversary of the battle of Trafalgar got under way in Falmouth.
The Culdrose guard, band and other personnel will be continuing their commemorations later this year in Madron where they annually lead the Madron parade. It was at the village near Penzance that the news of Nelson's victory was first announced - although unofficially.
Officially the news came to Falmouth first, via the schooner Pickle and a navy officer by the name of Lt. Lapenotiere.
