SMALL businesses in Wellington are being put in jeopardy by the spiralling price of fuel.

Prices have risen sharply over the last couple of weeks due to the soaring cost of oil, which is at a record high.

Although many big companies can absorb short-term increases in fuel prices, smaller ones who rely on transporting goods as part of the business, are being forced to either take on the increase themselves, face putting up prices, or even contemplate closure.
