POLICE are once again reminding people to keep their properties secure in the hot weather.

In the Somerton police sector there have been a spate of walk-in burglaries where windows and doors have been left open in the hot weather.

One man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

PC Richard McDermid said: "While we all want a cooling breeze it does make life easy for the burglar.

"If you are out in the garden and you cannot see your door then lock it, make sure you close and lock all windows, especially downstairs ones, when you go out.

"At night think about which windows you can leave open and try to shut all the ground floor ones."
