AN application for 18 two-storey homes to be built at Wharf Lane, Ilminster, was unanimously approved with conditions at last Tuesday's town council planning committee meeting. Around 18 months ago, the plans consisted of 28 two-storey homes but no parking spaces.
The town council rejected this original application on the basis that 28 dwellings was over-intensive, the absence of any parking would encourage problems and there had been opposition from residents at Abbots Close about privacy issues.
The new application received praise from councillors who said the developers had worked hard to address all of the council's points.
Cllr Adam Kennedy said: "I think they have gone a long way to address the issues raised and I will be fully supporting the application."
