The centenary of the Cornwall Cricket League was celebrated in style at Truro Cricket Club on Sunday with the finals of the Clive Rosevear Twenty/20 Centenary Handicap Cup.

It was the County Division 1 side Beacon that caused an upset by defeating Premier League Werrington by 12 runs in the final. Beacon used the 30 run handicap advantage to take the title after nine hours of action at Boscawen Park.

The first semi-final, in the morning, saw Werrington make 114 for five against fellow Premier League side Newquay with Mark Hodgson making 40 and Matt Robins 24. Godfrey Furse took three for 26. Newquay were pegged back by some accurate bowling and fielding. Newquay needed 24 off the last over and despite Rob Harrison's unbeaten 43 and Peter Emery's 17 not out, that included a six off the last ball, they lost by three runs.

The second semi-final saw Division Two St Gluvias with a 30 run handicap advantage over Beacon, who wasted no time in "getting on with it".
