The Budock Vean Golf Club open charity day proved a great success with a bright and breezy day attracting a full house of golfers from all over the county.

The course was in superb condition and at the end of a very competitive day no less than four pairs had carded 42 Stableford points. The winners on countback were David Penrose and club president Bill Hannaford.

Runners-up were Mae Brown and Pam Cook and in third place was another Budock Vean pair, Bob Hartnell and David Stevens.

Richie Perrin and Alan Bulpin from Falmouth took fourth prize. Alan enjoyed a fine day by also winning the men's longest drive and the putting competition, which he generously auctioned off to club captain Ted Barlow. The ladies' longest drive was won by Jane Barrington of Perranporth golf club.

The best visiting pair were Jim McKenzie and Simon Tonkin of Merlin Golf Club, with 36 points, whilst home pair Roger and Shirley Mildren carded 40 points for the best mixed.

The best club pair outside the top four were Ronnie Andrew and Mike O'Hara with 41 points. Sue Parsons and Tricia Blatter were the best ladies with 39 points. Best member and guest were Tony Ramsden and John Gresson (Falmouth).
