Organisers of the West of England Steam Engine Society Rally, celebrating its 50th anniversary its annual show at Tywarnehayle Farm near Chivenor Cross from August 19 to 21, are expecting record crowds.

The event attracts thousands of people annually. Last year 20,000 people attended.

More than 100 steam engines, tractors, commercial vehicles and stationary engines of all types will be present along with 100 miniature steam engines, heavy horses, fairground, crafts and models. A number of engines will be visiting the rally for the first time.

Visitors will be able to see many vehicles in action not least a threshing machine, stone crusher and wood saw as well as a heavy horse section not seen before at the rally.

Main ring attractions will include the Kangaroo stuntman from Australia who will be taking his quad bike with a specially adapted roll-cage to jumping over fleets of vehicles.
