CAR criminals in the Somerset East police district which includes Yeovil are being targeted by new dedicated crime scene investigators.
Two officers have been tasked with attending vehicle crime scenes to carry out fingerprint examinations. They will also take crime details and examine the vehicles for any evidence.
The new scheme was introduced after feedback from the public about reporting vehicle crime on the telephone and its hoped to improve the quality of service to victims.
DCI John Forrest said: "I am sure that the additional resources we are now able to devote to this area of crime will result in a greater number of offences being detected and culprits brought to justice."
