GYPSIES who allegedly cut chains to set up camp on a piece of farmland in Taunton have left behind a disgusting trail of waste.

As the County Gazette reported two weeks ago, farmer Steve Ling refused to pay the £2,000 enforcement notice to turf the travellers off his field next to junction 25 of the M5.

But now the landowner who hopes to use the field for an Olympic standard stadium has been left with huge clean up costs.

He said: "When the gypsies moved on they left behind a lot of mess.

"I suppose I will have to clean it up."

The 40-acre piece of land is a popular gypsy hotspot and every year Mr Ling is faced with the repercussions and complaints from residents in Ruishton after the traveller's set up their camp.

When the gypsies moved off of the land last week they left behind a trail of waste including black bin bags and human waste.
