OFFERS up to £11million have been made for a car park in Minehead, providing a possible spending bonanza for local projects.
But West Somerset District Council, owners of Vulcan Road car park, has shied away from saying the site will be sold to a supermarket chain.
Opposition councillors claim the sell off will leave the town short of car parking spaces, which they say are vital for accommodating visitors.
Four developers, who have expressed interest in the site, included plans for retail outlets in their schemes.
A surprise fifth bidder, Adventure Golfs, specialises in miniature golf and adventure play areas.
The council has yet to decide which developer it favours, and a public inquiry looks increasingly likely.
