A SUMMER holiday in Cornwall almost turned into a nightmare for one Wellington man as he got caught up in a rip tide while surfing.
Shaun Lang, 28, of Laburnum Road, Wellington, had to be pulled from the waves along with 64 other people at Perranporth Beach.
He was out surfing with friends at around 2pm on Monday last week when the rip tide, which is a sudden surge of current, pulled him out to sea.
Shaun, who works for DFS in Taunton, said: "I realised I was out of my depth and tried to paddle back in but the current was too strong."
