Legendary former British Lions rugby star Gareth "Cooch" Chilcott will be in Cornwall on Friday, September 16, to help raise funds for the development of Cornish rugby.

The occasion will be the first sports dinner-dance to be staged by Truro-based Skinners Brewery, to be held at the Headland Hotel, Newquay, 7 for 7.30 pm.

The former Bath and England prop will be guest speaker, having developed a reputation as an outstandingly entertaining after-dinner speaker at events all over the country.

All profits from the black-tie Newquay event will go towards the development of Cornish rugby at all age levels, principally through the John Kendall-Carpenter Memorial Fund. The late Kendall-Carpenter was a captain of Cornwall and England.

Up to 250 people will attend the dinner-dance and some tickets are still available, at £40 per individual or £400 per table of ten. Enquiries should be made to Skinners events co-ordinator Andy Hawken on 07977 173054 and cheques made payable to Skinners Brewery.
