HALLEN 3 PORTHLEVEN 0 - AWAY to Toolstation Western League outfit Hallen in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup, Porthleven gave a determined performance despite their early exit.

The Fishermen included new signing from Penryn Athletic, Damon Mulready, and also had the luxury of Dean Marks being available.

The home side made the early running with Ron Mowat going close with a cross shot and a Dell free kick being headed away by Mulready.

Ryan Holland pushed away an effort by John Fadida after the ball dropped right into his path, but after 15 minutes the home side took the lead from a free kick by Dave Scutt who gave Holland no chance with a shot into the corner of the net after Jason Reynolds had allowed a pass from Richard Nelmes to run on to him.

The Fishermen conceded a second goal ten minutes later when a free kick by Nelmes was headed in by unmarked skipper Bob Pritchard from four yards. It was a poor goal to concede defensively 'just as Port were getting to grips with the game.
