Falmouth eventually came out on top of a very low scoring ECB Premier League match at home to Newquay on Saturday.
Having won the toss, Falmouth elected to bat first, a decision they were soon regretting having been reduced to 50 for 7. Skipper Rob Harrison bowled particularly well for the visitors with Falmouth not helped by being on the wrong end of no less than five lbw decisions.
Brief restpite was achieved as Sean Turner and Greg Stephens shared an eighth wicket partnership of 53 before Stephens fell to Neil Ivamy for a hard hit 32. Turner followed for 19 as the home side we dismissed for a very disappointing 109.
Due to the early conclusion of the first innings, Newquay were able to bat for an hour before the tea interval and during this time Sean Turner and Braden Hill picked up a wicket each, and David Neville had claimed the vital wickets of Tim Walton and Barry Purchase who was brilliantly caught by Hill at extra cover. However having reached 74 for 4 at tea, Newquay looked to be in prime position to claim victory.
