The 2005 Jolly's Drinks ECB Cornwall Premier League title may well be on its way back to St Just-in-Penwith but at least Truro had the satisfaction of getting the best of a drawn game at Boscawen Park on Saturday.

Truro posted 233 for 7 and St Just fell short of victory by eight runs, but did have five wickets remaining and defeat was never on the cards. St Just's lead is now 26 points with two games in hand over Truro, who have only 60 points left to play for.

As has been inevitable for much of the season, it seems a case of when and not if the title will be heading west.

Truro, after being put in by a St Just team playing their first Premier League game for five weeks, lost an early wicket with Tim Marrion being bowled by Hayden Spierling for 0, with only two on the board. Tom Sharp joined county colleague Ben Price and the pair added 72 for the second wicket.

Price was in outstanding form finding the boundary 11 times in his 55. Graham Trenwith got the breakthrough when he knocked back his off stump in the 20th over with 74 on the board. Ryan Driver joined his captain but the St Just attack would not allow them to get away.

Trenwith, bowling into a strong breeze from the river end, bowled nine maidens in his 16 overs. Gary Thomas was just as miserly at the city end until Sharp finally found the boundary a few times.

Thomas's 16 overs only cost 33 runs. Sharp accelerated to hit nine fours off 114 balls before he was smartly stumped by Darren Cudby, advancing down the track to Mark George, for 67.

Truro were 160 for 3 with 11 overs remaining. Alex Tunnadine came and went, lbw sweeping Mark George for 7. Driver gave Mark George the long handle, despatching the spinner over long on for six. He fell next over to Gary Thomas, lbw on the front foot for 40 that included a six and four fours off 101 balls.
