THE congregation of a Falmouth church was lucky to escape injury after a pane of glass was broken during the middle of a service on Sunday.
The glass pane formed part of one of the side windows, facing out onto the road of All Saints Church in Killigrew Street, and splinters came crashing into the inside.
Now there are fears that the incident could be one of many involving local churches in recent months.
But the priest at All Saints, the Rev Stephen Drakeley, is playing down the incident, calling it "fairly trivial". "The service continued without a pause or hitch.
Some glass came into the building. People were surprised but you just carry on," said Father Drakeley, who was taking the service when the glass smashed.
The pane of clear glass only measured four inches by four inches but could have caused injury to someone
