TAUNTON Deane taxpayers have been footing the bill following the 'procession' of gypsies passing through the town this year.
Officials from the Deane council have revealed that they have spent over £44,000 so far on legal charges and clean-up costs incurred after gypsies have left unauthorised sites.
In June, the council had to fork out a five-figure sum for legal fees after a four-day enquiry was op-ened into an enforcement notice to evict a band of Romany gypsies from land in North Curry.
