MOTORISTS travelling along the A39 at Devoran between Falmouth and Truro, have been watching the changes taking place at Woodberry pool at Visick's corner.
The pool is rapidly disappearing as it is being infilled to make way for an extension of the Carnon Downs bypass and a new roundabout.
Peter Swain, the chief roads engineer at Cornwall county council, told the Packet: "We are carrying out the first phase of the Carnon gateway road scheme. This comprises building an embankment across the valley bottom and Woodberry pool.
"We have to leave the embankment for a while to allow the sediments to settle before we put the final road over the top."
Mr Swain added the embankment would be completed in the autumn, and there would still be a pond on both sides of it, but the volume would be reduced.
