A STOKE St Mary grandmother has described her "tremendous life" after a heart transplant almost two decades ago.
Joan Hayden, now 64, was at death's door after suffering cardiac problems since childhood when she was given a replacement heart in 1988.
She is now enjoying the best health of her life and has spoken to the County Gazette to encourage other patients awaiting organ transplants.
