Ahead of the indoor football season's big kick-off, the Carn Brea 5-a-Side League, sponsored by Nantucket News and Bike Chain, has announced this week that there is space in the league for new teams to join.

With the waiting list now exhausted, league secretary Graham Tippett has said that there is room for local club sides or works teams, of any standard, to join the league, which will be playing in its 32nd year at Carn Brea Leisure Centre with games on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Said Mr Tippett: "We are obviously very proud to be playing in our 32nd year and delighted that the response from teams has again been excellent, but we have a situation where we have space to fill, which we are keen to do with the season starting next week."

Teams wishing to enter the league, which is affiliated to the Cornish FA, are invited to apply either by phone or in writing to Mr Tippett but must be prepared to pay a deposit for pitch hire and registration up front, a fee of £162. This guarantees them at least 30 games a season.
