ILLOGAN 1 HELSTON 2 - ILLOGAN went down to an injury-time winner against Helston in the Jolly's Combination League and as well as losing the three points lost their manager as well.

After the game Dave Marks announced he was standing down. Illogan have appointed Brian Cooper and Robert Mugford as caretaker managers.

Helston manager Kevin Goldsworthy was delighted with the three points, was no so thrilled about the performance.

""It wasn't a good performance by us," said Goldworthy. "Since our opening win at Mousehole when we did play well, we have not really clicked.

"Overall we deserved to win this one. We had much more possession and created so many opportunities we should have been three or four up by half-time.

"In the end it came down to a late winner, but I thought we deserved the result."

Helston made all the early running, but found goalkeeper Danny Burrows in superb form as he commanded his area well and pulled of a string of superb saves.

Tony Morley had an effort cleared off the line and Craig Firth hit a rasping shot which Burrows couldn't have seen until late. However, on the half hour the Blues deservedly took the lead when Matt Fox whipped in a corner that eluded everyone and ended up in the back of the net.
