Six members of Hayle Surf Life Saving Club had a successful outing at the European Surf Life Saving Championships, held in the Baltic Sea at Lubeck and Travemunde, in Germany.
Club Captain Dave Parker was the first team member to win a medal in the 30-34 years still water boat rescue - an event in which he has never competed before.
Martin Burgess (55-59 years) is the newly-hailed European champion in the surf race and also claimed silver in the tube rescue and bronze in the board race.
Trish Merrett ran the race of her life to win bronze in the 35-39 years 2km event and Carol Penberthy (45-49) won silver medals in the ski race, beach sprint, beach flags, 2km run and the Diamond Lady, collating enough points to become overall European Champion in her age group.
