Troublemakers who cause disorder in Falmouth's nightclubs may be banned from all three venues as part of a hard-hitting pilot scheme starting next week.

"Club Watch" is a joint project between police and the three licensees of Remedies, Shades and Club International - due to come into force on Friday, September 16.

The aim is to reduce disorder by banning anyone who commits an offence - including assault, criminal damage or supplying drugs - from not only the club where it took place but the other clubs as well. Claire Hibbert, the licensee of Remedies Nightclub and Bar, said the scheme had her full support.

She said: "I think it's a brilliant idea. We're definitely going to be enforcing it."

Ms Hibbert did not believe it would be a problem to enforce as they had full back up from all the Falmouth police and her staff were aware of what was happening.

"I think the drink related crimes are just increasing all over the country and it's good we're actually doing something about it," she added.

Inspector Dave Scott, from Falmouth police station, said he hoped it would encourage people to act more responsibility. "The message has got to be understood by the general public. We're about driving down public disorder and violence because it is totally unacceptable," he said. He added that the "vast majority" of people went out to enjoy themselves and did not cause trouble. "There's a very small minority that drink to excess and make problems. Now it's, 'Banned from one, banned from all'," he said.
