TWO generations of a Falmouth family laid a wreath at the town's war memorial in Kimberley Park on Sunday in honour of merchant seamen who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Frank Cocks, 87, who served in the merchant navy during world war two, and his two-year-old grandson Ethan Gaylard, laid the wreath on behalf of the secretary of Falmouth Merchant Navy Club, at a memorial service to commemorate Merchant Navy Day.
Mr Cocks said: "The secretary of the Merchant Navy Club asked me to lay a wreath at the war memorial for his father and brother. My grandson Ethan held on tight to the wreath and wouldn't let go, so I said you better come with me to lay the wreath. In the end everybody was saying it was a lovely finish to the service, even the vicar."
