A social club in the Helston area has enjoyed a number of successes in competitions over the summer months, helping to boost attendance figures to record levels.

Helston and St Keverne Young Farmers Club currently has around 55 members, with many more new members starting this autumn.

The club meets every Thursday evening, taking part in a range of activities. Recently their summer programme has included a farm walk at Winchester bulb growers, barbecue and beach games at Gunwalloe Church Cove and helping prepare for the Country Fair at Stithians Showground.

Every year the club has a chosen charity that they raise money for and this time it's the Haematology and Oncology Amenity Fund at the Royal Cornwall Hosptial in Truro.

The year has been very successful for the club when it came to county competitions, as they won many cups. At the County Competitions Day in May, they won two cups: one for the most points in the stock judging and the other for most points overall, which they last won around 30 years ago!
