A project has been launched to look into the feasibility of building a combined produce market and visitor centre on the former cattle market site in Helston.
Regeneration officers from Kerrier district council have secured £18,000 from the Rural Key fund to conduct detailed research into whether such an idea would be successful.
An additional £2,000 is being contributed by Kerrier, which is managing the project jointly with the South Kerrier Alliance.
Launceston-based firm Win Business Services will be carrying out the consultation.
The idea for the new facility, which would combine local produce and retail with information for visitors and community space, came about following consultation by the Alliance, Kerrier's Liveability Team and the St Johns Regeneration Group.
