Helston Sports Centre is due to close its doors next week to allow a £300,000 programme of refurbishment to be carried out.
The centre will be out of action from next Thursday, September 15 - the day Kerrier district council takes over the management of the facility from private contractors Leisure Connection.
The council has planned a major face-lift for the centre, including improvements to the sports hall and the introduction of state-of-the-art ultraviolet treatment for the swimming pool.
Richard Allen, manager of Kerrier Leisure, said: "Most of the money is being spent on the pool area but the whole building will have a cleaner, fresher feel to it. We're working hard to ensure customers experience the minimum possible disruption and we're confident residents will be more than happy to accept any inconvenience caused by the closure when they see their new, revitalised facility."
