SPECIALLY trained firearms officers swooped on Bishops Lydeard on Tuesday night after reports of two men in the village with a gun.
The police received an emergency call at 6.40pm to say the men had been spotted with a gun in the Pound Lane area of the village.
Specialist firearms and police officers rushed to the scene and closed off several roads around the area.
A thorough search of the village was conducted and at around 9pm two men with a BB gun were found in the West Street area.
The men, both aged 32, from Bis-hops Lydeard and Culmstock, were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and possession of a section one firearm, and remanded into custody at Taunton police station for questioning.
A police spokesman said: "The two men are still in custody waiting to be questioned by officers."
