ROSIE Austin is retiring after 21 years at Richard Huish College, Taunton the last 14 as vice-principal.
Mrs Austin, who previously taught biology at Bishop Fix's School, Taunton, was responsible for all aspects of teaching and learning for lower and upper sixth students.
As vice-principal, she has seen student numbers more than double, new buildings and national recognition for RHC's academic standards and extracurricular successes.
She said: "It's been an enormous privilege to have been part of such a vibrant and successful Beacon college, which has consistently delivered excellence for its students over many years."
RHC principal Dr Peter Avery said: "The college will greatly miss the contribution that Rosie has made to all aspects of its work.
"She is a passionate advocate for the college, its staff and its students and her experienced counsel will be far from easy to replace."
Mrs Austin's successor, James Staniforth, joined the college at the start of last month.
