A FLOWER bed outside the recently opened new toilets in North Street, Wellington, has been left to become an eyesore.

When the new toilet block was built it was heralded as top-of-the-range facilities for the town centre, and the contracted builders had a duty to maintain the area for six months.

However, that tiem has run out and Taunton Deane Council is due to take over maintenance.

One reader, who asked not to be named, said: "It's an absolute mess. All the money spent on the toilets and now the front of them has been left to look like an overgrown weed bed."

After the County Gazette became involved the council said it was set to sort the flower bed out.

A spokesman said: "Our parks department will shortly be sprucing up the flower bed and it will be put on a programme for maintenance."
