DETECTIVES are trying to track down three car drivers who may have been the last people to see murder victim Roger Denslow alive.

Police have released CCTV footage of three cars seen outside Somerset Records Office on Obridge Road, which is on the route 40-year-old Mr Denslow is thought to have taken as he went to or from the One-Stop Shop in Priorswood Road around 6.55pm on Friday, June 23 the last confirmed sighting of him alive.

It is also just minutes from where Mr Denslow's badly beaten body was found on wasteland near the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal on Friday, June 30.

The footage shows a blue Peugeot and white saloon car outside the office as well as a small maroon coloured hatchback driving by.

All of the cars are occupied and police hope these people may have seen Mr Denslow, or have important information to help the murder inquiry.

Senior investigating officer Det Supt Arthur Lewis said: "It is vital we speak to all of the people in these cars.

"We do not believe they are involved in Mr Denslow's death in any way but they may well have been some of the last people to see him alive."

Officers are also trying to trace two rings belonging to Mr Denslow.

They believe he was wearing the rings the day he was last seen alive.

Police have released a picture of a ring almost identical to one of the gold rings.

The other was a sovereign ring.

Det Supt Lewis said: "It is very possible they may have been offered for sale locally and we would like anyone who may have seen them, or any shopkeepers who might have knowledge to get in touch."

Over the weekend police also carried out searches of several houses around the town in connection with the case, and say the investigation is far reaching.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police on 0845-4567000, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.

An inquest into Mr Denslow's death will be opened by West Somerset Coroner Michael Rose today (Thursday).
