BUSINESSES in and around Taunton are being asked to show their appreciation for the marvellous job done by our Marines by helping give them and their families a day to remember.
Thousands of people are expected to line the streets of Taunton when 40 Commando march through the town in a homecoming parade next month – full details are not currently bring released for security reasons.
Afterwards a private family afternoon is being laid on at the County Ground, with a funfair and stalls.
Organiser Colour Sgt Geoff Power is busy asking companies to stump up prizes for the day.
He said: “The lads and their families have had a tough time and we want to make sure they have a day they’ll never forget.
“There must be lots of firms around the area who appreciate what they’ve gone through and we’d like them to offer prizes, however small – everyone has got something they could donate.”
Anyone who wishes to support the event should contact C Sgt Power on 01823-362461 or e-mail 3CDOX-40CDORM-BASE-TERMOLISNCO@mod.uk
