EXMOOR National Park is expecting their main source of funding to be hit by the Government’s spending review.
The authority’s Chief Executive Nigel Stone has said Defra, who provide around 80% of the authority’s funding through the National Park Grant, has indicated the park authority need to plan for reductions of up to 30% over four years.
He said they had already agreed to put major projects on hold and put in place a presumption against filling staff vacancies unless the roles are essential.
Mr Stone added: “As far as possible, our intention will be to focus our efforts on activities which make the most impact on keeping Exmoor special, supporting local communities and promoting opportunities for understanding and enjoyment of the National Park.”
