SPECIAL arrangements have been made to allow up to 300 people to listen to a debate on radical spending cuts by Somerset County Council this morning.
The Cabinet meeting is due to take place at Taunton Conference Centre, Somerset College, Taunton, at 10am.
A statement from Somerset County Council says: “As much seating as possible has been made available within the Conference Centre itself for members of the public who want to attend the meeting.
“There is seating for around 200 people in the main auditorium. Should it be required, arrangements have also been put in place to televise the meeting into the café area next to the meeting room which can hold around 100 people.”
The council says banners, posters, placards, etc will not be allowed on show in the meeting room and that Somerset College will not allow demonstrations on its campus for health and safety reasons.
Parking at the college is limited and no car parking will be available for the public on the day.
The Cabinet is expected to approve a series of cuts affecting 700 jobs, highways, bus subsidies, recycling centres, the arts, libraries and more – as reported on this website.
