POSSIBLE contaminated land is being tackled by Taunton Deane Council.
Environmental Health has identified potential risk areas that may have been contaminated as a result of past industrial use or pollution incidents and is currently carrying out an inspection of the borough for any potentially contaminated land.
Initially 3,000 sites were identified as possibly being contaminated.
All of the high and medium priority sites, and over 150 low priority sites were reviewed and most have been remedied or otherwise dealt with, within the timescales given in the strategy. Areas include larger industrial areas and smaller sites such as old petrol stations and transport depots.
