THE Torch met TORCH at St Peter’s Church in Taunton.

Sgt Andy Murphy, who carried the Olympic Flame when it came to the town, took the Torch to show members of TORCH, the local branch of a Christian group for blind and partially sighted people.

Pictured holding the Torch is Liz Hargreaves, who is moving to Cornwall with her husband, Noel.

The Rev Iain McFarlane, vicar of St Peter’s, said: “It was an amazing and exciting privilege for members to handle the Torch that shares the group’s name.

“TORCH does so much to enable and resource those with sight loss to discover their Christian faith in fellowship and support of one another.”

TORCH, which is looking for new members and volunteer drivers, meets every second Saturday at 2.30pm –for details call St Peter’s Church on 01823-275085.
