STAPLEGROVE couple Jane and Keith Evans braved the wet summer to complete a 1,050-mile sponsored cycle ride from Land’s End to John o’Groats.
The couple, of Stoneleigh Close, and two friends from Bridgwater completed the 18-day marathon unsupported, stopping off every day at pre-booked accommodation.
They raised £3,050 for Brain Tumour UK in recognition of the help their daughter, mother-of-two Charlotte, 29, who lives in Cardiff, received when she was diagnosed with a brain tumour in May, 2010.
“We decided we wanted to give something back and recognise what Charlotte went through,” said Jane.
“It was hard work cycling 60-75 miles a day, and it rained all the time except for three days – we battled against high winds and gales in Cornwall, Devon and Scotland.
“Despite that it was great fun, but I’m not sure we’ll be doing it again!”
