A GORILLA painted in the style of a lifeboatman will be up for grabs as part of a plan to boost funds for the RNLI.

Hairdresser Dan James has undertaken the project alongside a campaign to raise cash for his friends' twin sons who have cerebral palsy, for which he is auctioning a fibre glass primate painted as Michael Jackson.

Dan will join RNLI crew members at the annual raft race to sell raffle tickets for the chance to win the gorilla.

He said: “All funds will go to the RNLI as I have personally bought and donated the gorilla and my time for this great cause. It is a cause that is very close to my heart because of the family connections and the fantastic job they do.”
