TRADERS across Taunton have leapt at the chance to support 40 Commando Royal Marines by putting up the ‘We’re backing our boys’ poster in their shop windows.

Zaz Richards, joint partner of Blue Cat coffee shop in Paul Street, said her father was in the Army, and supporting the troops as they prepare to deploy to Afghanistan was the least she could do.

She said: “They get such a hard deal and it’s just one way to show we support them.

“I feel for the families left behind because it’s horrible. It would be nice to see a lot more support in Taunton and to get behind them.”

The County Gazette joined Royal Marines charity Go Commando to bring you the latest version of our Shoulder to Shoulder poster.

In 2010, this poster proved popular with readers who put them up in their homes, businesses and cars.

Sean O’Brien, joint partner at Buff Urban Day Spa and chairman of Go Commando, wants to support anyone who is trying to protect us.

He said: “There are people in the shop connected with the Marines, so it makes sense to support them.

“It’s really important to show the support around the town as it brings a sense of community, and shows them and their families that we as a town back them 100%.

“Let’s hope they all get out there and back as safe as possible.”

You can send us a photo of you and your poster – take a snap on your camera or phone, and email it to newsdesk@countygazette.co.uk so we can publish it in the paper.
