THE Minehead and West Somerset Arts Society will open their 49th season with a concert by the Adie Oboe and Harp Duo.

The duo was formed in 2005 when sisters Harriet and Caroline Adie discovered that a surprisingly wide range of music suited their two instruments. It wasn't long before they were performing for music societies across the country under the Countess of Munster Recital Scheme. They have given recitals in venues across London, including a concert attended by the Lord Mayor of London and performances at Southwark Cathedral, St James' Piccadilly, the Guildhall and Lauderdale House. The duo enjoys performing in unusual venues, touring the world with both Fred Olsen and P & O Cruise lines and also taking part in outreach work for the charity Music in Hospitals.

The concert will be held at the West Somerset Community College in Minehead at 7.30pm on Friday, September 14. Tickets cost £10 (students £2), available from Stuarts in Friday Street, Minehead (01643-707974) or at the door.
