A DATE has been set for a court to reconsider a prison term handed to a woman who caused the death of a 13-year-old girl.
Leanne Burnell, 21, was jailed for 18 months after being found guilty of causing the death of Amy Hofmeister by dangerous driving.
Burnell was racing her then boyfriend, Leonard Jones, along Blackbrook Way, Taunton, last June, when Jones’ car struck Amy.
Jones was jailed for seven years and Burnell was convicted for her part in the race.
Amy’s mother, Jane, who has campaigned for Burnell’s jail term to be increased, said on Facebook: “Happy to announce the appeal date has now been set for October 24 at the Royal Court of Justice in London.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported me in this.”
