EXTREME sport enthusiast and former Richard Huish College student Tim Emmett is back in Taunton tomorrow (October 10) evening where he will be delivering his lecture “Hardest Ice Climb”.
Tim, who left Richard Huish College in 1992, has had a hugely successful career since leaving the college with A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. His passion for rock and ice climbing started whilst he was at Huish and has developed to a standard most can only dream of.
The event, which is part of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG)’s regional theatre programme, will see Tim talk about his climbing experiences across the world, including most recently tackling the notorious Canadian Helmcken Falls.
He spent two weeks meticulously plotting his ascent with climbing partner Klemen Premrl in temperatures as low as -25c to become the first men ever to ascend the 450ft falls, ominously dubbed the ‘hardest ice climb in the world’.
Tim also co-presented BBC1 climbing documentary ‘Ultimate Rock Climb’ in 2007 and has appeared on a host of shows including BBC2’s ‘Wild Climbs’ and ‘Top Gear’.
The show starts at 7.45pm at the Brewhouse Theatre. Tickets cost £11 for Society members and between £11 and £14 for general admission. For further details, please call 01823-283244.
