A SOMERSET man has hit the screens as he takes part in a BBC2 competition.
Daniel Musselwhite, based in Frome, competed in ‘All That Glitters’, with the first episode airing yesterday (April 13).
The series hunts for Britain’s next top jewellery star and is presented by Canadian comedian Katherine Ryan.
Mr Musselwhite is an on-site artist at Black Swan Arts in the community arts centre in Frome.
Emma Warren, centre manager, said: “We are delighted to have such an inspirational and talented jeweller on site.
“He is such a friendly, down-to-earth and approachable artist with an infectious creative positivity.”
He has been making jewellery since 1995 and started his career as an apprentice at Chruch House Jewellery in Bristol before starting his own business. He also creates bespoke wedding rings for couples.
The show has been described as “Bake Off for jewellery” by British Vogue as contestants compete to be named ‘jeweller of the week’ by judges Solange Azagury-Partridge and Shaun Leane.
Jewellery that would usually be created over several days has to be finished in three hours using drilling and saw blades.
Judge Shaun said: “It is dangerous, and dare I say it, sexy.”
Filming took place last year at Birmingham’s historic School of Jewellery.
Episodes air on Tuesdays at 8pm on BBC2.
