A SUPERB set of `Mouseman` dining chairs and a refectory table are to be sold by Lawrences of Crewkerne.
Consigned for auction by a client in Somerton, these items were made by the famous Robert Thompson of Kilburn, better known as ‘Mouseman’ with the distinctive carved mouse `signature` on every piece of furniture.
Based in Yorkshire, Mouseman has produced high quality hand made furniture from the 1930’s to the present day and they have a huge following amongst collectors. The sale includes a set of 8 oak dining chairs including two carvers, and a 6ft long oak refectory table. Both were made around the 1970’s.
Lawrences Auctioneer Simon Jones said, ‘We have been very fortunate to sell many pieces of Mouseman over the years, and its appeal is always strong in our auctions.
The set of dining chairs are expected to make £2,000-£3,000 in auction and the refectory table is guided at £1,500-£2,000. They are both included in Lawrences July Fine Art Sale on Thursday, July 5.
