LOCAL horse trainers David Pipe and Alex Dunn have both enjoyed a successful start to the 2023-24 National Hunt racing season.
Pipe who is based at Nicholashayne high up on the Blackdown Hill has to date saddled 11 winners, the latest of which was Ya Know Yaself who won for the second time at Newton Abbot went off at 13-8 under the stables conditional jockey Gerard Harney.
Dunn who trains at West Buckland enjoyed a first second and third at Fontwell recently her winner coming from Toad of Toad Hall ridden by Philip Armson who went off at 4-1.
Both yards opened their doors last week as part of National Racehorse Week when visitors had the opportunity to tour the stables looking at the horses and chatting to staff.
Those who attended enjoyed the experience and were given the opportunity to find out more about what goes behind the scenes into the working of racing stable.
Both Alex Dunn and David Pipe provide opportunities for those followers of the Sport of Kings to get involved with ownership so anyone who is interested should make contact with the respective yards.

The next meeting at Newton Abbot is on Friday 22nd September, Exeter open their season on 12th October, Wincanton get going on 19th October while Taunton open their campaign on 16th November.
