A TAUNTON teenager won Minehead Triathlon beating around 200 competitors.
Tom Webb, 15, from Bishops Hull, Taunton, who attends Millfield School won the Channel Events triathlon by two minutes on Sunday (October 8).
The course featured a two lap 750m open water swim off the beach, a 20km cycle towards Porlock and back plus a 5km promenade run heading high up into North Hill Woods, before returning for a beach finish in front of hundreds of spectators.
The win is Tom’s third local Triathlon triumph this year, following victories at Taunton and Langport Triathlons. Attention for the young South West Tri Academy athlete now turns to the cross country season and a hard winter of training ready for 2024.
Tom said after the event: “Thank you so much to Channel Events for a brilliant triathlon, it was so well organised and friendly.
"The standard of competition was very high and I needed to put in maximum effort to win. Congratulations to all the athletes competing and thank you for all the good luck wishes, I hope to be back next year.”
