THE final round of the British Rallycross Championship got off to an explosive start in Kent this weekend for Somerset Automotive Director, Nick Priddy.
The two day event was hit by gale force winds and torrential rain as Storm Ciaran continued to batter the south coast.
Driving conditions were challenging for the competitors racing at ‘the home of rallycross’ Lydden Hill, with little grip and mud causing chaos on the track. Fortunately for Nick, he thrived in the conditions and repeatedly won heats to make pole position in the final.
Nick’s pole position gave him a good advantage off the line as the competitors made it in to the first corner.
Unfortunately for the Somerset businessman his RX150 rallycross car suffered a misfire during the race making for an added challenge to manage against some of the best in the sport.
Nick battled hard, eventually finishing in second place. He then in turn then bagged a podium place in the overall championship, coming in third.
Priddy said after the race: "It has been a great season for us, we’ve competed overseas and all around the UK and the whole Somerset Automotive team have been involved in the effort.
"We’re excited to be looking a new motorsport opportunity for 2024 which will be even more thrilling and we can’t wait to announce our plans."
