SADLY the weather on Tuesday put paid to the Ladies Section final competition before the Christmas at Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club.
However it gave Lady Captain Georgia Richards a chance to reflect on what has been a very enjoyable and successful season in 2023.
Georgia said: The T&P Ladies section have had a great year all round with the teams all doing well in addition to which there has also been a number of social events that everyone has enjoyed.
“The Ladies teams have come runners up in both the Wessex League and the Rogers Cup, winning the Somerset County Senior Ladies Golf Association Club Shield and the Division One of the Inter Club League.”
The Lady Captain added: “It has been a great year with some fun golf and lots of successes to celebrate, so well done to everyone and thank you for all your help.”
One of the special days from Georgia’s year was her Lady Captains Day when many took the opportunity to enter into the spirit of the Superheroes and Cartoon Characters theme and dress accordingly as the group picture shows.
The T&P Juniors also enjoyed a highly successful year and are already planning for the next summer.
The T&P Junior Open will be taking place on Sunday 9th June 2024- earlier in the year than previously when there will be an 18 hole medal competition and a 9 hole stableford competition.
There will be gross and net prizes as well as spot prizes on the day
Entries must be under 18 on 1st January 2024 and have five or more WHS qualifying scores between 9/6/23 and 8/6/24.
Further details can be obtained by contacting the Junior Organiser at T&P on 01823 421537 or by emailing janhillholmfirth@hotmail.com
Last week at the club, The Noah Trophy that took place at Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club earlier this week raised £220 for the Club Captain’s charity for Adult Autism.
The winners of the competition were Alan Vickery, Bob McWillians and Laurie Jeffrey, second place went to the trio of Russel Symons, James Davies and John Attree, while third place was claimed by David Parker, Allen Itter and Bryan Ahern.
Most importantly, as far as the others taking part were concerned was that last place with the honour of organising next year’s extravaganza, was taken by Chris Doyle, John Kirk and David Rigby.
A fabulous Christmas carvery and Carolling singalong followed the dinner. Thanks to all who took part and made this such an enjoyable occasion.
