THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for an area of storms producing lightning in Somerset.
The warning, which lasts until 7pm today (Saturday, June 18), tells people to be prepared for possible disruption in the coming hours.
There is a chance of some short term loss of power or other utility services and there could be some damage to some buildings/structures.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "An area of storms is expected to move north eastwards across the South West and into Southern England Saturday afternoon.
"These may bring frequent lightning to sites for a short period of time before they clear to the north east.
"A brief period of heavy rain is also likely but given the speed of movement lightning is thought more likely to be a hazard."
