A BLIND man from Somerset is running a half marathon this weekend.
Liam Harkness is taking part in the Bath Half Marathon on Sunday (October 15) with his guide Zdenek Gregor.
Liam will be raising sponsorship for Somerset Sight, where he works and where Zdenek, a former eye surgeon, is a trustee.
Zdenek is also planning to run full marathons in Brighton, London and New York.
Another local runner at the Bath Half is Ed Herbert, a consultant surgeon at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.
It will be covering the course for the sixth time and is also raising funds for Somerset Sight.
Somerset Sight is an independent charity that helps blind and visually impaired people in the county.
It offers emotional support to people with recent onset of visual impairment, arranges regular home visits by hundreds of volunteers and provides trips and activities, all in an effort to alleviate the loneliness which is so common in people with impaired sight.
